Young School Brain Training Club

SPRING 2024 Kindergarten and 1st Grade Students only

Games, Games, Games! This club will incorporate math and ELA concepts within fitness-based games. This will take place in the gym at school on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. The goal of this club is to help activate the body and the brain to best take on the rest of the school day, and to have a lot of fun! 

This club is only available to Kindergarten and 1st grade students at Young School.

8:15 - 8:55 am (Please pull up to the front of the school. Students are to stay in the car until Mr. Jonaitis opens the main door. If your student is in Oasis, they will just join us at 8:15 from Oasis.

  • What is it?

    • A fun club where you will learn about careers video games

  • What is it not?

    • We will not be simply playing games each week. Actual game playing occurs in the last 2 sessions. We will also not be playing any games rated M or any shooters regardless of rating. This means no Fortnight so don't ask.

Hadley Middle School Speech Squad 

Here's some things you need to know about Speech Squad…. 

Speech Squad is a GREAT place for you, if you like to act and speak in front of others! It’s also a GREAT way to meet other students who like to do that SAME thing!!

We do compete, as a sport, but there is only one competition, where there are AWARDS and scores given. Teams are formed in groups of Duets and up to groups of 4 or 5. They can be formed and chosen before the first meeting.

All members of the Speech Squad are required to eventually FULLY MEMORIZE their script/staging prior to competing at the IESA Regional Contest!

There are NO props used for the contest, so attention to “acting” and sticking to timed performances are a must. Improv is STRONGLY encouraged with each Duet Team….it is all a bunch of fun! So students can participate in TWO different competitions.

Students will choose their event, partner/group, and script at our first rehearsal in order to have plenty of time to memorize and perfect their performances

This provides plenty of time for rehearsing; memorizing; blocking and working with Coach Curry to make each selection succeed at the contest

(IESA REGIONAL CONTEST DATE will be determined at a later date, it is usually the first weekend in November). 

Our first rehearsal will be Monday, September 11th and is mandatory attendance since partners & scripts will be chosen. Any student not in attendance on September 11th (as long as registered by 9/10/22)will be assigned a partner & script.

CALLING ALL TRIVIA ENTHUSIASTS!  It’s time for IESA Scholastic Bowl! 

If you’ve got a passion for pop culture, a vast knowledge of math, or a love of geography (just to name a few topics), we want you to join our team! 


  • Our competitive team will meet on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 2:10pm to 3:30pm.
  • Activity bus will be available for practice, but not meets/games as they run no later than 3:30 pm. 
  • Our first practice on Tuesday, January 30th in room 110 - first meeting is mandatory, so plan to attend in order to learn the expectations & rules of gameplay.
  • Students must join Google Classroom when invited.
  1. All communications about changes, games, etc. will be communicated on Google Classroom.
  2. Students will need to check often for updates on the Google Classroom Stream and/or check their email regularly.
  3. Since this is an IESA activity, students must maintain passing grades in all classes to be eligible for gameplay.
  4. The season will end with a regional contest the last Wednesday in April - more details to follow once they are available.

With parent permission, your child will have the opportunity to volunteer as a peer buddy for students with special needs who attend the Specialized Instruction (SI) Programs at Schilling School. Participants will be learning about Improv;  parts of the theater, stage movement, voice, being on stage…and having FUN!!! 

They will ALL be participating in  live plays and Improv.

  • Drama club will meet on most Mondays and Wednesdays for 5th/6th graders, from 2:20-3:30 in the MPR room with Ms. Curry (unless otherwise noted).

  • Some dates may differ or will be added to a week's rehearsal.

  • Membership will be limited to no more than 30 students.

The club will meet on the following dates. Attendance at every meeting is important.

CALLING ALL TRIVIA ENTHUSIASTS!  It’s time for IESA Scholastic Bowl! 


If you’ve got a passion for pop culture, a vast knowledge of math, or a love of geography (just to name a few topics), we want you to join our team! 


Our competitive team will meet on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 2:10 PM to 3:30 PM in room 218. The activity bus will be available for practice (IF you select this for your student), but not meets (games) as they run later than 3:30pm. We will have 3-4 meets this season. 


Students must join Google Classroom when invited. All communications about changes, games, etc. will be communicated on Google Classroom. Students will need to check often for updates on the Google Classroom Stream and/or check their email regularly. Since this is an IESA activity, students must maintain passing grades in all classes to be eligible for gameplay. The season will end with a regional contest the last Wednesday in April - more details to follow once they are available. 


Signup will be open until January 23rd or until the maximum of 13 students has been reached.

Each year, Craft club projects vary by the interest of our group. 
At our first club meeting, we will discuss project ideas together. 
Some crafts we have done in the past were painted pours, finger knitting a blanket, string art, reverse tie dye, candles, etc.

Calling all actors! Speech Squad is back at Homer Jr. High!


All members of the Speech Squad are required to FULLY MEMORIZE their script/staging prior to competing at the IESA Regional Contest.

  • We will rehearse on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:10-3:30 in the HJH cafeteria beginning September 12th to end of October.
  • Rehearsal Dates September:12,14,19,21,26,28

    Rehearsal Dates October: 5,10,12,17,19,24,26,30

    Rehearsal Dates November: 2 (more may possibly be added pending contest date) 

Students will choose their event, partner/group, and script at our first rehearsal in order to have plenty of time to memorize and perfect their performances.

Please note that since Speech is an IESA recognized activity, participants must be passing all courses in order to participate in practices and the Regional Contest.

Students must accept invite to Speech Squad Google Classroom after they have been signed up.

All communication regarding schedule, regionals, etc. will be through Google Classroom.

They will be given regional contest rules, staging information,

and other important handouts via Google Classroom.

Car Riders should be picked up no later than 3:30pm!

Students are encouraged to sign up for the Activity Bus

(however, it  may not be available for the first meeting so please make arrangements).

Welcome to HOMER JR HIGH Yearbook Club 

2023-2024



We are a very small staff of 7th and 8th graders with the huge task of producing a FABULOUS yearbook for the 23-24 school year. 

Students work to design layouts, select and edit images and write captions. 


  • Our staff will meet after school on Thursdays from 2:20-3:20.
  • Our first meeting will be on Thursday, November 2nd 2023 
  • *** cost of yearbook is NOT included


Terms: I hereby authorize and consent, to School District 33C, on my behalf and in my stead, to administer emergency medical treatment to my child while participating in the above named supervised school activity.  This permission and consent extends to the right of School District 33C, its employees and agents, to arrange for immediate medical treatment by a licensed or certified physician and or other medical personnel, and for them to apply such emergency techniques, which, in their judgement, they deem appropriate, or to treat any injury sustained by my child. In addition, I acknowledge & consent that Homer CCSD 33C, its employees & agents shall not be liable of having made a decision to authorize the administration of emergency medical treatment to my child.
